Painting Competition on Guru Nanak Dev Ji

To mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, an on-the-spot poster and painting competition was held at Guru Nanak Dev University, regional campus. Students from various departments participated in the event. The theme for the competition was - 'Life and times of Guru Nanak Dev Ji'. Keeping the theme in mind, the participants made posters and paintings related to Guru's life and teachings. Dr Deep Kamal Randhawa, from the department of Engineering and Dr Varinder Singh, of the department of Laws were the judges of the event. Harshdeep Kaur stood first. Palak Bansal, and Harleen Kaur, won the second and third prize respectively.

Canada's Dual Degree

Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Dual Degree in Canada's academic institutions will be launched so that the students of both the countries can complete their degree in the field of higher education in any country. These views expressed Canada Embassy's councilor General Miss Mian Yeon did. He was addressing the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pratap Singh in the meeting. Our Achievers Who Cracked PCS exam

Students of GNDU Regional Campus, Khayat Dhir, Kanika and Rosi have passed the UGG-JRF examination. Students Seema Agnihotri, Renuka, Navjot Kaur, Amandeep Singh pass PCS exam. The name of the campus is illuminated. Dean Campus Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra honored the students with a memento, on the occasion Dr. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Varinder Singh, Dr. Mona, Dr. Rupam, Amandeep Singh congratulated the students.

MoU with Derbyshire U.K

Derbyshire county councillor Kewal Singh Athwal on Monday paid a visit to Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) He discussed various issues for enhancement of international links in the field of higher education,tourism and research. Welcoming Kewal Athwal, Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu along with other senior of the university sald. "Today marks nothing less than the beginning of new era of cooperation for INDIA and the UK . By teaming up, the university is creating a unique alliance and leading the wayin shaping the future of Indo-Britain research partnership. This intiative will further cement our university's premier locations for research and innovation."

GNDU ranked 2nd in North Zone Youth Festival

GNDU was awarded 2nd Prize by Punjab Unviversity Chandigarh on the occasion of 34th North Zone Youth Fest. Students from 36 Universities from Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttrakhand and U.P. participated in this festival. The events were related to Dance, Music, Theatre and Fine Arts.

Asst. Prof. Awarded Best Employee Award with Disabilty

Asst. Prof. Mona Goel was awarded Best Employee with Disabilty on World Disability Day at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The award was presented by Hon'ble Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. She has been teaching in GNDU Regional Campus since 2007.

Achievers of Campus Placement Drive 2018-19

This year on-campus placement drive is going great just as every year. 30+ students have already been placed from our campus till october 2018. Companies like TCS, Capegemini, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Nagarro, Software AG, SAP Labs, Xenon Stack, Infogain etc. have visted till now. More companies are arriving in coming months and More placement offers are expected.

Acuity Mock Placement Drive -2018

Students of B.Tech. department under the aegis of faculty members, Dr. Deep Kamal Randhawa and Dr. Sheetal Kalra organized a Mock Placement Drive under the tag ACUITY to help polish students for their upcoming placements. Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Dean Student Welfare and Academic Affairs motivated the students for the same. Students from 1st, 2nd and 3rd years participated in the three day event. Day 1: Aptitude & Technical Tests, Day 2: Group Discussion, Day 3: Personal Interview. Day 3's personal interview was divided into HR round and Technical round. The HR round was invigilated by Dr. Charan Kamal and Dr. Harmandar Kaur and Technical round by Mr. Inderpal Singh and Ms. Kalpana. Four winners were declared - Karamjeet Singh (3rd year CSE), Mudit Parmar (3rd year CSE), Ayush Sethi (3rd year CSE) and Ayush Khanna (1st year CSE). The whole event was very well conducted by the student organizers: Aastha Ratti, Mohit Gupta, Kanvi Parashar, Vaibhav Chadda, Manpreet Singh.

GNDU Ranked Second in the country in Swachh Bharat Ranking under Govt. University Category. The universities was assessed for toilets adequacy and maintenance, garbage clearance system, hostel kitchen hygiene and sophistication of equipment, water purity, storage, distribution facility, campus greenery and rainwater harvesting, use of solar systems and villages or neighbourhood adoption for hygiene.

TechFest 2k18

The Technical Students' Society of the campus proudly presented the annual technical festival on 6th April 2018. High levels of competence and dexterity were showcased in the 'Techfest 2018' by the future engineers from the host campus and from various institutes. All the participants got an opportunity to explore their niche by running codes in Java, flagging opponents in CS 1.6, facing time crunch in Robotic Obstacle Race, tiding up the thought process for Knowledge Mash etc. Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, the worthy Dean, while motivating the students to give their best emphasized the fact that along with the theoretical aspects the budding engineers need to polish their practical know how via the event. The technical & co-curricular incharges, Dr DeepKamal Randhawa & Dr Harminder Singh also motivated all the participants & wished them good luck.

GNDU improves ranking,MHRD list puts it at 59

Improving its ranking from last year,GNDU has been ranked 59 in the all-India university ranking released under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development on Tuesday.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Jaspal Sandhu said "We have improved from our last year's rankings. We shall be working towards making the university as one of the best across the globe,î he said.

UGC grants special status to GNDU

The UGC has granted Category-I status to GNDU. It got a NAAC score of 3.51. GNDU can now start departments, schools, off-campus facilities and hire foreign faculty without UGC approval.According to the notification of the UGC (Categorisation of Universities Only) Grant of Graded Autonomy Regulation 2018, issued on February 18, universities with a score above 3.5 fall in Category-I. As per privileges granted to Category-I universities, GNDU shall be deemed to be under Section 12B of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, and no inspections by the UGC will be required for the same.Vice-Chancellor Dr Jaspal Sandhu said the UGC had recognised GNDU's hard work and given greater autonomy.

Swami Vivekanand 125th Anniversary 2017

September 11, 2017, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed a Student Leaders Convention on the occasion of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya's Birth Centenary Celebration and 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand's Address at the Chicago World Parliament of Religions on the theme YOUNG INDIA, NEW INDIA - A RESURGENT INDIA: FROM SANKALP TO SIDDHI. This address of the PM is to remind one and all about the relevance and significance of their teachings in the backdrop of today's social milieu. Through his speech Hon'ble PM has stressed on the importance of Youth involvement in today's socio-economic, religious and political affairs to ensure their right to education, career and spiritual emergence which will lead to make resurgent India and self sufficient India.

Sports Meet 2017

The sports meet was held in the campus from 3rd - 6th March,2017 with more than 15 sports events. The inaugral of the event was done by our worthy Associate Dean, Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra. The students participated with great enthusiasm in all the indoor and outdoor events. The event concluded and a number of student participants & position holders were honoured during prize distribution ceremony.

IIT Bombay Spoken tutorial program

Guru Nanak Dev University has signed an agreement with IIT Bombay for spoken tutorial Program. The Spoken Tutorial activity is funded by the National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, Govt. of India. A free workshop on PHP and MySQL was conducted in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering during Jan-May 2017. Students of the department enthusiastically participated in the workshop for SELF learning. Dr. Pankaj Deep Kaur, Assistant Professor, CSE was appointed as the workshop coordinator for the learning of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) namely PHP and MySQL. 18 students successfully completed the training and passed an online exam conducted remotely from IIT Bombay. Certificates for completion of PHP and MySQL training were awarded to the students.

TCS Workshop 2016

Senior dignitaries from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the giant IT services provider/the IT giant, visited the GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar.Mr.Rajit Sikka, Associate Consultant and Academic Relation Manager-India North, and Mr.Pankaj Bhardwaj, SAS consultant and Technical Architect, addressed the students on the various important aspects of the technological advances in the field of Telecom Convergence.Dr. Amit Chopra, Assistant Placement Officer, GNDU, Amritsar and Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean, GNDU, RC, Jalandhar shared his valuable views and knowledge on the fast-paced technological updations, such as IoT- the Smart City.


In an effort to create awareness about the role of higher education and research, IIT Ropar conducted an outreach program for the students of the campus. The highly interactive and motivating session was held to bring forth the various unexplored and highly innovative upcoming aspects of various research spheres. The discussion also highlighted the opportunities in terms of career options, scholarships for the students of GNDU Regional Campus Jalandhar. The advantages of a merger of high-end research facilities and academia were also discussed.
